NBR is the most widely used material for O-rings due to the good mechanical properties and resistance to lubricating oils and greases based on mineral oil. The Dichtomatik NBR-standard material for O-rings has an average ACN content covering a wide range of applications. This material possesses good mechanical technological values, eg. high wear resistance, allows little gas through and is resistant to lubricating oils and grease based on mineral oil, hydraulic oils H, H-L, H-LP, non-flammable fluids HFA, HFB, HFC, aliphatic hydrocarbons, silicone oils and greases, water up to approx. 80°C. NBR is generally not resistant to aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, fuels with high aromatics content, polar solvents, brake fluids based on glycol and non-inflammable liquids HFD. NBR is less resistant to ozone, weather and aging. This has no adverse effect in the vast majority of applications.
