SMC offers pneumatic cylinders with anti-rotation piston rod within the CP96K series in accordance with ISO 15552. This version is available in six piston diameters from 32 mm to 100 mm and limits rotation of the piston rod about its axis, while retaining the principle of combined pneumatic and elastic cushioning.

The ordering code directly identifies the selected configuration. The prefix CP96K, supplemented by an optional identifier for the version with integrated magnet (D), is followed by a letter code for the mounting type (B as standard), the piston diameter in millimetres, the stroke in millimetres and then a piston rod code that identifies a single-ended or through-rod version (W); a sensor model and its quantity are added if position detection is required. No bellows option for the piston rod is offered for this series.
The anti-rotation mechanism limits the angular movement of the piston rod during extension, thereby maintaining the alignment of a tool attached to its end. Several mounting types are available: standard mounting, foot mounting, front flange, rear flange, rear pivot eye and rear fork. The sensor groove on all four sides of the housing enables the sensor to be repositioned without dismantling. The accuracy of the anti-rotation function and the permissible tightening torque vary depending on the piston diameter selected. The anti-rotation version uses the same principle of combined pneumatic and elastic cushioning as the rest of the series. This dual cushioning reduces the cushioning time required to stop the piston, which shortens the cycle time compared with the previous C96 generation and reduces impact noise at the end of stroke. The changed shape of the rod-end cover and the piston structure also reduces the mass of the cylinder compared with this previous model.
