Il montaggio di cuscinetti su sedi coniche può essere un lavoro difficile e lungo. L'uso di una chiocciola idraulica SKF facilita l'applicazione facile e veloce delle elevate forze di sollevamento necessarie per il montaggio dei cuscinetti. Anche lo smontaggio dei cuscinetti montati su bussole di adattamento o di estrazione è spesso un'operazione difficile e lunga. Questi problemi possono essere ridotti con l'uso di un dado idraulico SKF. L'olio viene pompato nel dado e il pistone viene spinto fuori con una forza sufficiente a liberare il manicotto. Tutti i dadi SKF HMV ..E sono forniti con un attacco rapido per l'installazione delle pompe idrauliche SKF.
